Dear Residents,
As many people are aware City Power is currently busy auditing prepaid meters across Region C. Many areas have been affected including large parts of Ward 70.
Following discussions with management at City Power yesterday they have reaffirmed that they will be dealing with these issues on a case by case basis. They have indicated that these issues will be dealt with in three categories:
- Those who never received prepaid meters or whose meters were never registered will be reconnected with a prepaid meter and the fine will be cancelled;
- Those whose meters went faulty and were bridged will be considered for reconnection assuming that they have logged a call at some point and received a reference number, in other words those that can prove that they tried to have their meters repaired / replaced. The fine will also be cancelled in such a case;
- Those whose meters are bridged and who can’t provide proof that they tried to have it repaired / replaced will need to pay the fine before they will be reconnected.
Unfortunately this process can only be done at City Power’s offices in Booysens, the address is 40 Heronmere Road, Reuven.
Should you have further queries please contact Metering on 011-490-7484
Kind Regards,
Cllr Caleb Finn
